Capture the tropics in your decor and add texture with colorful plates depicting bamboo or bird of paradise. The first plate with lovely hand painted golden bamboo and aqua leaves is vintage 1950's California pottery. The second plate while not vintage has a wonderful shape and great green and brown colors. The third yellow, blue and green bird of paradise dish with green edge trim is also hand painted and vintage California pottery. Last is a neat bark cloth style Camellia floral English plate hand colored with burgundy and green. For more information on any of the plates below ~Click it!

For those of us who remember the LAST time brown was a hot color (think 1970's refrigerator!) check out the beautiful browns that are available for decorative purposes. These brown toile transferware plates add class and richness to your decor. The top one has really cute motif of a boy getting into a rowboat on a lake in front of an English country house. The middle one is very striking exotic motif with a bird and roses. The last is one of my top sellers because has everything: Colonial scene with Plantation, Southern Belles, Tricorn hatted gentlemen, ships, mountain scenes, patriotic trim. For more information about any of these click the plate!

Many years after Rachel Ashwell published her books Shabby Chic is still very hot for classy comfortable decor. The words "Shabby Chic" have become synonymous with the love of decorating with time-worn vintage objects. With pale pinks, lavenders, spring green, sunny yellows and lots of roses the look is wonderfully soothing. Vintage dishes fit into this style beautifully and allow you to make the look your own. This darling 1930's plate hung on the wall gives just the right look.

In the September issue of Vanity Fair there was a long profile on Cath Kidston of England. Her stores are opening up in many upscale areas of the U.S. Her look is very retro with polka dots, roses, and posies. The look has cottage elements with lush florals on tins, bedding, aprons, and of course dishes. This large oval platter is fantastic rose platter:

Rosanna also has many items in her line that creatively express the comfortable feminine look of cottage chic. Her Chelsea Flowers, Tea's Me Too, and Dottie Baroque are fantastic looks.
